About Artistle
Artistle is a daily music guessing game. A new mystery artist drops every day, and you have eight tries to name them — with each guess, you get clues about how close you are on genre, country, age, career length, and who they've collaborated with.
The game
Every day at midnight UTC, a new artist becomes the day's puzzle. Your goal is simple: guess the artist in eight tries or fewer. Each incorrect guess reveals how the artist you named compares to the mystery one — same genre? warmer, colder? same country? older or younger? — so every guess narrows the field.
There are no random gotchas. The mystery artist is always someone with a real, verifiable public profile, and the clues are always the same categories in the same order. If you play a few days in a row you start to feel the shape of the puzzle.
Ways to play
- Daily Challenge — one shared puzzle for the whole world, resets at midnight UTC. Everyone gets the same artist. Log in to keep your streak, earn medals, and appear on the leaderboard.
- Custom Game — pick your own filters (genre, country, era) and get an unlimited stream of random puzzles that match.
- Challenge a Friend — pick an artist yourself, generate a link, and send it. Your friend plays the exact puzzle you set up. Great for testing how well someone actually knows the music they claim to.
Who makes Artistle
Artistle is built and run by one person — an indie developer based in the Czech Republic. It started as a side project born out of the same itch that made Wordle a habit: a small daily puzzle that fits in a coffee break, that you can share with a friend, and that rewards knowing something well.
There's no team behind the scenes and no VC funding. Every feature you see was shipped by one person on nights and weekends, and every bug report actually lands in one inbox. The upside is that feedback moves fast — the downside is that things sometimes take a while.
Where the data comes from
The artist catalog is compiled from publicly available music sources. Artistle isn't affiliated with any label, streaming service, or artist, and no artist information is scraped from private or paid APIs.
If you spot a factual error about an artist — wrong country, wrong genre, missing collaboration — please report it via the [link:/contact](contact page). Corrections usually go out within a few days.
For streamers
If you stream on Twitch, YouTube, or Kick and want to play Artistle live with your chat, there's a free ad-free streamer account available so your overlay stays clean. Details are on the [link:/streamer](streamer page).
